NATION chased from off the pace then advanced from outside up the backstretch, went three wide into the turn, bid outside the top pair, got bumped while five deep at the five-sixteenths pole, angled in dueled outside a rival and took over leaving the bend, kicked clear in upper stretch, drew off under urging and was in hand near the wire. BROADWAY UNIONS sat off the pace along the inside, drew closer leaving the backstretch, angled four wide around the bend and rallied to get up for second. NAISMITH drifted out a bit early almost bumping a rival, traveled three deep between rivals into the turn, gained four to three wide around the bend and got outkicked for second. DISTANT FLEET was closest in pursuit up the backstretch, bid two wide into the turn, got bumped while putting a head in front four deep at the five-sixteenths pole, lost command leaving the bend, yielded to the winner in upper stretch and flattened to fourth. SPIRITIST chased between rivals in the early going, put in a mild bid between runners at the five-sixteenths pole, lost contact with the leaders shortly after, went two to three wide into the lane and weakened. JAMES J. BRADDOCK chased four deep out of range, got moved out to the six path on the turn, spun five wide into the lane and lacked a rally. BOBBED N LURED raced in mid-pack outside a rival, took the turn two to three wide and weakened. SEAGER MAN also raced in the mid-pack, dropped back two wide then on the rail on the turn and came up empty in the lane. UPLIFT lacked early speed, trailed on the inside, angled three wide around the bend and was never a factor. COACH RANDY B chased from inside, put in a mild rail bid at the five-sixteenths pole but quickly lost touch with the leaders, chased into the stretch and tired. LOBDELL LAKE sprinted clear and showed the way up the backstretch, took control into the turn, drifted out and bumped at the five-sixteenths pole, lost command in the process, dropped back after and was not persevered with down the lane.
