GERRARDS CROSS away alertly to set the pace, showed the way on the inside, responded when roused in the stretch, drew clear and held well under urging. SLICK MERLIN tracked close up on the inside, chased inside on the turn, rallied in the two path in the stretch run and dug in gamely for second. NACHO PROBLEM raced off the pace between rivals, saved ground on the turn, rallied on the rail in the stretch run and finished well for the show spot. SPINELLI was fractious in the gate, off a bit slow, raced three wide off the pace, chased three wide on the turn and finished evenly. GOLDEN BEACH raced off the rail, off the pace, came two wide into the lane and closed belatedly inside. PULSTAR chased close up outside, chased two wide on the turn and weakened. FIRE ON THE WIRE was off a bit slow, raced off the pace inside, came three wide into the lane and failed to threaten. SPECTACULAR GREY broke a step slow, chased inside, came two wide into the lane and failed to threaten.
