Chart notes
ALPHA CAT stalked the pace from the inside through the far turn, split rivals at the head of the lane, engaged the leader midway down the stretch, took control late and held the closer safe. BAYTOWN BULLEIT was well placed tracking the pace from three wide to the far turn, circled five wide on the bend and made a steady gain through the stretch. KING REIGERT was reserved in hand to race at the rear of the filed, remained at the back turning for home and mounted a good belated rally. MAGNUS EFFECT dueled on the lead for three-quarters, assumed command briefly turning for home, was quickly challenged in upper stretch and gave way stubbornly in the final sixteenth. GRAND MORNING dueled on the lead from the fence to the quarter pole and faded in the lane. FROZEN FOUR was not a factor.
