GROUND CONTROL was coaxed a bit from the break but not asked to go for the lead, settled mid-pack under a hold, pulled closer to the front down the backstretch, then was boxed in on the far turn while full of run, found a seam four wide turning into the stretch then produced a powerful late burst under steady handling to win well. TALKSALOT allowed to settle from the break, jumped some tracks turning onto the backstretch, bided time near the rear, moved up heading into the turn, launched a bid midway through the turn, tipped out to the five path for the stretch run, and rallied past all but the winner. CAPELLA RED got an awkward start, then settled at the back early, made a bold, three-wide middle move from last to share the lead on the backstretch, bid for the lead at the top of the stretch, had a little trouble keeping a straight course late, and was outfinished by the top pair. HAUNTRESS angled to the rail before the first turn, tracked close up and launched a bid midway on the turn, encountered a little traffic at the top of the stretch, but lacked a winning kick when clear. SALOMEINTHEHOOP had good speed from the break but was taken back under stout restraint, dropped back in the pack to the half, then tried to rally with three furlongs to run, finished with some interest but could not make up the needed ground. MILLIE'S STARDUST stalked the early leader then upped the pressure after passing the half-mile pole, put a head in front midway on the turn, battled with CAPELLA RED from the quarter pole, then weakened in the stretch. CHATTANOOGA CREW got away awkwardly then became rank shortly after the start, fought the rider through the first turn, then continued the behavior to the half-mile pole, finally settled down but could do little to improve in the later stages. TARGET VISION got a good break and made the front, led the way under mild pressure to the far turn, took an odd step near the quarter pole, then was not involved in the stretch. BEAUTIFUL JANET settled near the rear, made a mild forward move on the far turn but quickly stalled and had nothing to offer in the stretch. THE JOCKEY OF TALKSALOT CLAIMED FOUL AGAINST GROUND CONTROL FOR ALLEGED INTERFERENCE ON THE FIRST TURN, AFTER A STEWARDS REVIEW THE CLAIM OF FOUL WAS DISALLOWED AND NO ACTION WAS TAKEN.This race was originally hand timed and was re-timed using video technology to arrive at the most accurate time.
