NAPOLEONIC CODE was pushed from the start to get forward position, made the lead on the first turn, then was taken under a strong hold, settled inside through slow fractions with a pair of rivals keeping company to the outside, quickened away midway on the turn, opened up in the stretch, and easily held safe from a late closing challenger. NORTHERNREFLECTION was always close up for the first half-mile, lost some ground when the trio up front quickened the pace, came under a ride from the three-furlong pole, found a good stride in the stretch, was closing the margin on the leader as the wire loomed, but ran out of time. BARBACOA broke awkwardly to the outside at the start, then was caught three to four wide through the first turn, moved up to press the pace down the backstretch, then was put into a drive approaching the three-furlong pole, could not get to the winner in the stretch, and was passed late for the place. CITY PARK tracked behind the pace, riding the rail to the far turn, was kept to task in the stretch and improved while no threat to the winner. HOOSIER was not asked for speed and settled at the back for the early running, raced three-wide then five-wide into the stretch, and passed a few tired ones in the stretch. TAPPIN FORA DANCE tracked mid-pack to the inside, came under a ride from the three-furlong pole but lacked a rally. DRIED PEPPER pulled to the front and went head-to-head through slow fractions with NAPOLEONIC CODE, then later joined by BARBACOA, could not keep up after passing the three-furlong pole and had little left in the stretch. UNITED PATRIOT became a bit rank on the first turn and pulled the rider down the backstretch, made a mild forward move on the turn when asked, but flattened out early in the stretch and was unable to threaten. DEANOS CAPE settled near the back of the pack, started to lose ground on the field before the far turn, and had little to offer late. GOTTA DEAL got caught five-wide going into the clubhouse turn, moved up to mid-pack but still wide down the backstretch, then started to lose contact with the field after passing the half-mile pole and was not involved in the late stages.
