Chart notes
OUR FAVORITE SON broke well, cleared away from the field except for MONOPOLY MAN, who was never far back, led the way through the turn, then dug in under a threat from CONCENTRATION leaving the quarter pole, responded to steady handling and urging to hold that stubborn foe at bay to the wire. CONCENTRATION reared several times in the gate before the start, tracked close up three wide, launched a bid for the lead approaching the quarter pole, chased gamely, but was unable to get to the winner. THE MONOPOLY MAN broke well, pressed OUR FAVORITE SON briefly down the backstretch, then settled in a stalking position, leaving that rival to dictate the fractions, was unable to go with that foe and CONCENTRATION in the stretch, but kept on and just held the third spot from a closing rival. NORTH OF BALI off slowly, was having to be coaxed some in the early stages to avoid losing contact, came under a ride approaching the three furlong pole, then produced a grinding rally in the stretch to improve but was never a serious threat. QUATERNION was slow into stride, chased from the middle of the pack and lacked a rally. LICK SKILLET was last to break, made a mild three-wide middle move on the turn, then flattened out in the stretch. GOLD THIEF came away well, raced in the middle of the pack and faded on the turn. JOSAN was under a drive from the start, was always outrun and did not factor.
