MOTOR CITY MENACE tucked in behind the leaders on the first turn, shifted to the inside for the run down the backstretch, raced with the trio tracking well behind the dueling leaders, then launched an inside bid from the five-sixteenths marker, chased VENEZUELAN FAITH down the stretch, and got up in the final yards. VENEZUELAN FAITH showed good speed from the break, pressed NERVANA under a bit of a hold through moderate early fractions, took command after passing the three-furlong pole, opened up a clear lead in upper stretch, but was caught in the final yards. MOON CHARGER slow early to be well off the leaders at the rear of the field, commenced a steady, long drive on the turn and finished with a late gain along the inside to be up for the show. MACLIN raced three wide in the tracking group, was often having to be coaxed along to maintain position, went into a drive near the seven-sixteenths marker, went three wide through the far turn, then swung five-wide into the stretch but was unable to generate a winning kick in the lane. ICONIC ROCK too a slight hop at the start and was off a step slow, settled in the middle of the pack one path off the rail, struggled to keep pace after passing the half-mile pole, and lacked a rally. NERVANA made the front and attempted to slow down the pace, had VENEZUELAN FAITH pressing the issue to the outside but was able to set modest splits, gave way with three furlongs to run, was kept to task but had little to offer in the late stages, and faded.
