Chart notes
ROAD TO MUSIC CITY was pushed away from the gate to get a forward position but ceded the front, tracked well behind the dueling leaders, then crept close approaching the far turn, bid three-wide under a drive from the quarter pole, battled outside of a couple of rivals down the stretch and edged ahead in the final yards and just held clear from a resurgent MR. BALI near the wire. MR. BALI settled inside at the back through the early stages, started to move forward leaving the half, made a mild advance through the turn, then slipped through an opening along the rail and took the lead at the top of the stretch, battled gamely with a pair of rivals to the outside, only to come up short in the end. MAN'S CHOICE dueled outside of MAN'S CHOICE early, assumed the lead, leaving the half-mile pole, opened up through the turn, dug in under challenges to the inside and outside, steadied in tight quarters near the finish, and lost all chance. GOT ZIP raced three wide with the trailing group, launched a three-wide bid with three furlongs to run, lugged in down the stretch, and faltered. DOUBLE AGENT raced between horses at the back for the first half mile, moved up three wide on the far turn, dropped over to the rail for the stretch run, loomed a threat to mid-stretch but weakened. LEROYISALAGNIAPPE showed good speed from the break, dueled with MAN'S CHOICE down the backstretch, then gave way after passing the half-mile pole, retreated, and was not involved in the later stages. RACE WAS HAND-TIMED DUE TO AN EQUIPMENT MALFUNCTION. THE JOCKEY ON #5 MAN'S CHOICE LODGED A CLAIM OF FOUL AGAINST BOTH #2 ROAD TO MUSIC CITY AND #1 MR. BALI ALLEGING INTERFERENCE NEAR THE FINISH. AFTER A REVIEW, THE STEWARDS DISALLOWED THE CLAIM OF FOUL AND THE ORIGINAL ORDER OF FINISH WAS MADE OFFICIAL.
