Chart notes
BAR ROOM BUDDY was first away under some coaxing, ceded the front to BATTLE PASS POSSE, stayed close up to the outside of that one through the turn, responded when set down at the top of the stretch, and drew away late to a handy win. WHILE I broke inward and bumped BIJOU BEAR, then was allowed to settle from the start, advanced from the back through the turn, to loom a threat at the top of the stretch, had trouble changing leads through the stretch, but managed to outfinish the rest of the field to gain the second prize. BATTLE PASS POSSE rushed up from the break and seized the early lead, dueled BAR ROOM BUDDY through the turn, gave way to that rival in upper stretch and was passed late for the place. SUTTER BUG got off to an awkward start and was last early, was put to a drive from the five-sixteenth, finished with some interest but was never a serious threat. GOSPEL MARK broke off-balance inward and steadied at the start, was under pressure from the start, then tired before the stretch. BIJOU BEAR bumped hard by WHILE I at the start, then tracked close up inside, weakened late on the turn, and had nothing to offer late. GONNABEAGOODDAY veered out at the start, then raced close up three-wide to the stretch, then stopped, and was reported to have bled.
