Chart notes
EXCAPING THE BLUES assumed the early lead then proceeded to dictate a slow pace for the first half-mile, maintained a clear margin through the far turn while upping the tempo, responded when set down at the head of the stretch, finished up well under strong handling and intermittent urging to hold safe from an outside bid. NUMBER ONE DUDE tracked just behind the leader along the rail, had the eventual winner get first run in the stretch, but closed relentlessly down the lane to just miss. TAP THE DOT settled mid-pack inside, launched a bid with three furlongs to run, and finished up well to gain third. C W PRIZE broke off-balance and lunged outward at the start, moved up early only to be caught four-wide on the first turn, got to within a length of the leader going down the backstretch, launched a serious try at that on with three furlongs to run, loomed a threat to mid-stretch, then weakened. COUNTRY CAPER got forward position and an inside run through the first turn but dropped to last turning down the backstretch, came under a ride when the pace quickened on the far turn, ran on willingly in the stretch but was unable to overcome the slow early pace. GHOST HERO missed the break and was off slowly, raced near the back, made a mild forward move going into the last turn then was outfinished in the late stages.
