ATTILA THE DUN established the front on the first turn and was left to dictate the early fractions with a pair of rivals in close but not serious pursuit, dug in under a threat from HEIR TO GREATNESS approaching the three-furlong pole, battled gamely through the stretch, drifting out under left-handed urging, edged clear late, and held to the finish. HEIR TO GREATNESS sat just behind ATTILA THE DUN, letting that one set the splits, moved up to challenge with about three furlongs to run, dueled through the stretch, was being carried wide by that rival, backed off to alter course to the inside, but lost momentum and was outfinished to the wire. NORTHERN QUEST settled near the back through the early stages, launched a wide rally going into the far turn, and was not getting to the top two but gained third. VINNIEBOB tracked close up through the first half, never found another gear in the late stages and finished one-paced to the wire. DADDY WHAT IF was devoid of speed from the start, settled well behind through the early stages, took the rail path through the far turn but lacked a finishing kick. RYDERS UP tracked inside well behind the pace along with a rival, dropped out aft the half-mile mark and was uninvolved in the late stages. This race had a timing discrepancy or malfunction, and was re-timed using video technology to arrive at the most accurate time.
