Chart notes
MATILDA'S MARK broke best and established the front without being asked, controlled the pace despite some pressure from FORTY FIVE to the inside, turned back a slew of challengers near the quarter pole still under wraps, drew off when roused in upper stretch, and went unchallenged to the finish. SOUPED UP WILDCAT moved up inside after a slightly tardy start, tracked in mid-pack down the backstretch, bided time through the turn, slipped through an opening into the stretch and finished up well to win the race for the second spot. THATSATERRIBLIDEA chased behind the quintet battling for the early lead, advanced under a ride through the turn, came into the stretch as the lone threat to the winner, but was no match and was outfinished for place. MS TRES MORENA lacked any speed from the break and lagged at the back in the run down the backstretch, made a strong middle move five-wide through the turn, was put to the crop in upper stretch, but did not have the needed response. FORTY FIVE was up with the early pace, holding the rail position, started to drop back late on the turn, and came up empty in the stretch. THE SMOOCH was contesting the pace from between horses in the early stages, clipped heels with FORTY FIVE just past the five-furlong pole with the rider losing both irons, lost momentum, dropped to last, and though the rider got reset in quick order, was unable to make up the lost ground in the later stages. SAPELLO SONRISA was forwardly placed racing between horses, then tired in the stretch. THERE WAS A STEWARDS INQUIRY INTO THE INCIDENT NEAR THE FIVE-FURLONG POLE. AFTER A REVIEW #5 FORTY FIVE WAS DISQUALIFIED FROM 5TH AND PLACED 6TH FOR INTERFERENCE. This race had a timing malfunction or discrepancy and was re-timed using video technology to arrive at the most accurate time.
