Chart notes

SHUG'S ROCKET away a step slow, settled near the back early, took an inside path through the turn, and finished up strong up the rail to blow past the tiring leader in the final yards. AWESOME BID was being coaxed along down the backstretch, tracked four-wide in the middle of the pack, put in a good late run under intermittent urging, and was along in time to claim the second prize. NOSTRANGRTOTHERAIN jumped out to a clear early lead, maintained the margin through the turn and into upper stretch, then got tired in the final furlong and was overtaken in sight of the finish line. TUCUM pressed the early pace from between horses, went on with DISCREET TIGER to go after NOSTRANGRTOTHERAIN on the lead, loomed a mild threat to mid-stretch, but could not find the needed late response. DISCREET TIGER pressed three-wide through the early stages, then weakened in the stretch. AUSPICE chased the pacesetter to the turn, dropped off the pace near the three-furlong pole and had little to offer in the stretch. SIR RUCKUS dropped to last early and chased from far back, passed one tired rival in the lane. JAZZ TOWN broke in a tangle, settled inside near the rear, and was unable to muster a rally and slowed to a canter in deep stretch. This race had a timing discrepancy or malfunction and was re-timed using video technology to arrive at the most accurate time.
