Chart notes
STORM BAYOU contested the early pace from between horses, dug in when challenged by CLUE at the quarter pole, kept that rival at bay for the length of the stretch, and just held on at the line. CLUE pressed the pace three-wide, bid for the lead approaching the quarter pole, got pushback from STORM BAYOU, battled that rival gamely through the lane, but could not get by. ARCH CITY allowed to settle after a slow start, raced five-wide throughout, produced a nice mid-race move through the turn, and sustained the bid through the stretch to gain third in the late stages. READS PET ZENON tracked just behind the pace battle, tried to mount a rally from the quarter pole but had some trouble changing leads into the stretch and flattened out. TATAS JOE MARK was the inside horse in the early pace battle, dropped off the pace heading into the turn, lost the inside path, tried to re-rally but was outfinished. LUCK IN MY EYES chased mid-pack four to five wide and lacked a finish. GRIFTER broke in the air, was allowed to settle well behind the field, tried to rally from far back, but was unable to make an impact. INDY'S SONG pressed three to four wide then weakened in the stretch. MICKEYS TRAIL was off slowly, chased from far behind, and never threatened. OFFENSIVE dropped for behind, raced very wide for no apparent reason and was never involved.
