VIVA LA VINO away well and raced to the lead from along the rail entering the first turn, set a pressured pace from the inside of WANDALITA in the run down the backstretch and through the final turn, and prevailed over that stubborn rival following a stretch long battle. WANDALITA away alertly and tracked the leader into the first turn while racing one out from the rail, forced the issue from the outside of VIVA LA VINO in the run down the backside and through the final turn, and closed determinedly two wide in the drive to just miss. HIGHER IMAGE was off a step slow, but raced up to grab a stalking trip two out from the rail entering the backside, launched her bid two wide entering the final turn, and closed determinedly four wide in the drive to garner a share in a solid effort. MISS UNION settled off the early pace while racing three wide into the backstretch, launched his bid two out from the rail entering the final turn, and improved her position over the final furlong without ever threatening. MATSQUI settled at the back of the pack while saving ground at the rail entering the first turn, bided his time at the back of the pack in the run down the backstretch and into the final turn, rallied two wide into the turn, but failed to seriously menace. MERRY BLUE broke sharply and tracked the leaders into the first turn while saving ground along the inside, continued to save ground into the final turn, but faded in the late stages.
