COUNTERACT tracked the leaders into the first turn while racing one out from the rail entering the backstretch, commenced his bid three wide entering the final turn, took command straightening for home, and held BROKE AN BROKEN at bay late to prove best. BROKE AN BROKEN away well, and was allowed to settle well off the early pace while racing two wide entering the backstretch, launched her bid two wide entering the final turn, and finished full of run four wide in the drive to prove second best. HORATIO broke outwards, and bumped with COUNTERACT in the opening strides before settling off the early leaders while racing three wide into the backstretch, commenced his bid three wide entering the final turn, and closed two out from the rail in the drive to get up for a share. LOVE THE NEST broke sharply and chased the pacesetter two wide into the first turn, forced the issue two wide from the outside of FINDING WAYS in the run to the final turn, rallied one out from the rail through the final turn entering the final turn, but needed more late. FINDING WAYS away alertly and raced to the lead from along the rail entering the first turn, set a pressured pace from the inside of LOVE THE NEST in the run down the backside and into the final turn, struggled to match strides with that rival leaving the turn, and faded in the late stages. BIG UNION was fractious prior to the start, and broke awkwardly to get off to a slow beginning, settled towards the back of the pack from along the rail entering the backstretch, was always well back, and failed to mount a serious late bid when called upon. A steward's inquiry into the start of the race, resulted in no action being taken.
