Chart notes
SOLEIL VOLANT settled mid-pack on the rail in cover through the early stages, then tipped out a path to start a forward move midway on the turn to press for the lead at the top of the stretch, chased a stubborn rival in THUNDERING for the length of the stretch gradually closed the margin in the final yards and got up in the last jump. THUNDERING stalked the lone pacesetter two-deep in-hand, inherited the lead late on the far turn, then responded nicely when set down at the top of the stretch, went a length clear and finished up well under strong handling, dug in gamely when confronted by SOLEIL VOLANT late and just failed to last in a solid effort. VERSUS settled inside near the back, started to run on heading into the far turn, tipped out to the three-path late going into the last bend, finished up strong, could not get to the top pair but finished clear of the next horse. GEOMETRY was a bit keen through the initial stages, pulled to be up close going down the backstretch, became boxed in late on the far turn, then finished up well when clear, but was not quite good enough. OHIO JOE lacked early speed, kept to the inside to the stretch then was kept to task and passed a few tired rivals. SNOOKIE BEAR tracked three-wide near the rear of the main group, came under a ride midway on the turn, but was unable to threaten. HOPE'S ALIVE pushed for forward position, then went to a clear lead with the rider trying to temper the pace, was overtaken near the quarter pole and had nothing left for the stretch run. KING OF ASHES raced three-wide through the early stages, then retreated on the far turn and was uninvolved in the late stages. FLASH FROZEN refused to break at the start, was unloaded and walked off.
