Chart notes
SIR STERLING was sent hard from the start but settled two-wide in a stalking position to DOCTOR OSCAR, moved up to challenge for the lead near the three-furlong pole, pulled even at the top of the stretch, then went clear in the final furlong and was drawing away in the final yards. DOCTOR OSCAR was pushed on from the start and made the front, tried to fight back when challenged by SIR STERLING midway on the turn, kept pace to mid-stretch, then gave way but held the second spot well clear of the third horse. SHANKAR chased in third position but well behind the top pair, lugged in through the stretch, but managed to hold third. TAHOE RUN was outpaced early and was the trailer to the turn, was kept to task through the stretch, and was able to outfinish a couple of rivals. CAMP DADDY raced three-wide with the second flight, was making a mild late bid when the rider dropped the crop coming off the turn near the quarter pole, was was unable to threaten. MISTER KELLY tracked along the rail mid-pack, then had nothing to offer in the stretch.
