Chart notes
CAME UP ROSES took the early initiative and established the front, slowed down the pace while being left alone to dictate the fractions, slipped away from the field midway through the far turn, maintained a clear margin in the stretch and widened the gap in the final stages. GOPHERS AXE settled in second position behind CAME UP ROSES, putting no pressure on that one through the early stages, was unable to keep up with that rival from the far turn then chased in vain through the stretch to hold the place. HELEN OF C'VILLE tracked mid-pack on the inside, and outfinished the rest to take the minor award. ENTICING OPTION settled well off the pace then was mildly gaining in the stretch. TOUR DE' PORT raced four-wide and lacked a finish. WAVE OF MEMORIES was outpaced from the start, dropped far back and never fired.
