Chart notes
ANEGADA was allowed to settle from the break, was on the rail and near the back through the first turn, then coaxed along down the backstretch to get a little closer, loomed late on the far turn but was stuck behind horses, responded when asked at the top of the stretch, then dove to the rail in mid-stretch and finished best under strong handling and steady urging to take down the top prize. MAUI STRONG tracked the duel two-deep in the second flight, bid four-wide at the quarter pole, went to a slight lead in mid-stretch, finished strong, but was unable to fend off the winner on the inside. BUTTONS AND LACE unhurried early, settled inside at the rear of the field though the first half-mile, made a bold move late on the far turn to loom four-wide at the top of the stretch, went clear of the rest, but was outkicked in the final yards with a large gap back to the next horse. TAUNTING settled two-wide near the back, outfinished the rest of the field for fourth but was well back of the top three. WEDNESDAY ADDAMS tracked inside with the second flight, loomed in upper stretch, but flattened out. SUSHI MAN moved up after the break to duel with PERRY COUNTY well ahead of the rest of the field, got the best of that rival at the top of the stretch, then had nothing left for the final furlong. PERRY COUNTY sprinted to the lead and was joined to the outside by SUSHI MAN, dueled clear of the rest to the far turn, then gave way readily at the top of the stretch. SMOKEN BOY was never comfortable at any point, fought the rider early, then raced three-wide near the back, was eased out of the race on the far turn, galloped to the finish line, and walked off.
