Chart notes
WORDS OF WISDOM was pushed early to get forward position, settled just off the flank of CONI'S COUP through the first half, then went to challenge for the lead leaving the half-mile pole, took over the lead approaching the quarter pole, finished up well under strong handling and urging, and held a rival safe to the line. GENERAL ISSUE (FR) hopped at the start, then pulled to race close up to the early pace, settled in third, down the backstretch, then responded when asked to go on from the three-furlong pole, loomed a big threat passing the quarter pole, chased the winner to the wire, but could not close the gap. HOLIDAY FANTASY broke well but took back early, rated a the rear of the field along the rail, never far from the front, launched a bit from the three-furlong pole, finished willingly but was outkicked by the top pair in the final furlong. CONI'S COUP hustled hard to get the early lead, then had the rider attempt to temper the pace down the backstretch, was getting mild pressure from WORDS OF WISDOM down the backstretch, then folded under pressure from that one near the quarter pole, then had little left for the stretch run. JET FLIGHT tracked three-wide then came up empty in the stretch. DOUBLE THUNDER got shuffled back at the start, raced at the back two-wide under a bit of a hold, but never far back in the compact field, came under a ride to keep pace with three furlongs to run, had trouble changing leads in upper stretch, and was unable to improve. PRINCE RAMA got away well, raced close up along the rail, did not respond when coaxed along to keep pace on the far turn, and was not involved in the later stages.
