Chart notes
PROBABLY DREAMING broke well then was allowed to settle two wide near the rear of the main pack, not far from the front, bided time to the far turn, quickened on cue near the five-sixteenths marker, took over the lead passing the quarter pole, then drew away under steady handling in the stretch. G Q WORTHY was pushed to get forward position but caught four-wide on the clubhouse turn, settled four-wide down the backstretch in mid-pack, advanced through the far turn to bid three-wide for the lead at the quarter pole, could not go on with the winner, chased in vain well clear of the next horse. EMPIRE OF GLORY was a little slow into stride, then settled alone at the back to the far turn, launched a bid with three furlongs to run, then rallied to take the third prize, while no threat to the top pair. MAJESTIC BLUE broke best but settled inside behind the pace, became boxed in down the backstretch, checked slightly near the three-furlong pole, lost some momentum, then was unable to re-bid late. STAR SWEEPER was off a step slow, settled off the pace on the first turn, then moved up the rail to join FREELY HELD on the lead, put a head in front near the half-mile pole, continued to duel through the turn, then gave way at the head of the lane and was not a factor in the stretch. FREELY HELD broke well, then went to the lead going into the first turn, got some pressure midway down the backstretch from STAR SWEEPER up the inside, briefly lost the lead to that one near the half, took back the lead late on the far turn, then yielded to a pair of rivals near the quarter pole and tired in the stretch. CHALKY WHITE raced close up early while under a hold, came under a ride passing the seven-sixteenths marker, then started to lose ground late on the far turn and had little left for the stretch run.
