MR. A. P. stalked the top pair from off the rail, bid three deep on the far turn, dueled outside CHEROKEE NATION late on the bend, inched ahead in upper stretch, maintained a short advantage over CHEROKEE NATION through the final furlong and was all out to prevail. CHEROKEE NATION dueled from outside to the far turn, fought between runners at the five-sixteenths pole, lost command dueling inside MR. A. P. late on the bend, battled on through the lane, dug in late and just missed. ERUPTION raced up close four wide on the first turn, remained wide up the backstretch, challenged four deep on the second bend, could not keep up with the top pair at the quarter pole, weakened in the lane but still finished a clear third. METATE settled early and found the rail on the first turn, lost ground around the far turn while easing out to the three path and failed to menace. OUT OF THE WOODS tracked three wide around the clubhouse turn, outside a rival on the backstretch at the back, dropped further back three then four wide around the last turn and had little left for the drive. WORK fought for the lead from inside to the five-sixteenths pole, yielded to outer rivals with a quarter mile remaining and retreated down the lane. RHODES stalked three wide around the clubhouse turn, applied pressure to the top pair from outside in the middle stages, tired on the far turn, eased in the lane and walked off.
