Chart notes
JOE THE TAILOR tucked in behind the early pace, became boxed in on the far turn but was patiently handled, tipped out four-wide into the clear for the stretch run, produced a steady rally and got up in the shadow of the wire. ZOOMBIE tracked three-wide just behind the early pace, bid three-wide at the top of the stretch, gained a narrow advantage by mid-stretch, held on doggedly in the final sixteenth but lost the lead in the last jumps. CANE CREEK ROAD hustled from the break to vie for the lead, then was taken under a hold going into the turn, finished up well under strong handling and intermittent urging, but was outkicked in the final yards and had to settle for the minor award. MAHONEY ROAD settled mid-pack inside, was without a clear path forward through the turn, got some room late, and made a nice bid up the rail but came up short. SHACKLEFORD STRONG was off a step slow then pushed on to improve position, chased the leading pack to the stretch, then flattened out a bit but was mildly gaining late. PURPLE OCTOPUS got off a step slow, then was outrun to the turn, came two-wide off the turn with clear run, but lacked the needed response. DEVILS RED steadied briefly at the start, raced four-wide at the back of the field, then lacked a meaningful rally in the stretch. STABILITY chased three-wide from mid-pack, then was unable to produce a late bid.
