Chart notes
ROARING VIXEN pressed the pace set by HEAVENLY BEAR two-wide to the far turn, then launched a bid with about three furlongs to run, dueled that stubborn rival through the stretch, then gained the advantage inside the furlong pole and went clear. HEAVENLY BEAR made the early lead, then led the way through moderate fractions to the far turn, had a short lead turning for home, then fought back when challenged by ROARING VIXEN in upper stretch, gave way but managed to hold safe for second. I'M HUNGOVER broke outward, bumped with MAJORING IN GOLD, then rebounded off that rival to the inside rail, settled inside always close up, was under a stiff drive through the late stages, could not find the winning kick but saved third while drifting out a bit in the final yards. MAJORING IN GOLD got squeezed at the start, then tracked three-wide through the first turn and down the backstretch, made a mild three-wide bid into the stretch, finished willingly, but was not doing enough late. CATNIP HILL tracked between horses in the middle of the compact field, then was outrun in the late stages. RESORT FEE stumbled, then broke awkwardly to the inside, making contact with MAJORING IN GOLD, raced three to four wide throughout and never threatened. THE PLACE PICK-8 NUMBERS WERE: 3/6-1/2/3/4/5/6-1/5-4/8-1/3/5/6-2/4/5-4/6/8-1/2/4/8/9
