RUN PANCITA broke well then backed out of the developing pace battle, dropped to the rail before the turn, then moved up, waited for room through the turn, got a huge hole to run through, finished well up the rail to outduel a stubborn TAP THE WIND and prevail in a tight finish. TAP THE WIND was the inside horse in the early pace scramble, went on to duel with BUCKEYE MIKE through the turn, got a narrow advantage approaching the quarter pole, then came into the stretch with a narrow lead between horses in upper stretch, dueled with RUN PANCITA through the last furlong but came up short in the end. BUCKEYE MIKE broke out at the start, making contact wtih PLAYFULASITGETS, vied vied between horses in the early pace battle, kept the pressure on TAP THE WIND through the turn, loomed a threat in upper stretch, but could not go with the top pair in the late stages, but finished a mile clear of the next horse. GRAY TORMENTOR chased the pace close up four-wide under a ride down the backstretch, bid five-wide into the stretch, and produced a steady finish but was still well behind the top three. ATLAS FALLS was very slow into stride, dropped far behind the field early, then rallied past tiring foes in the stretch, but never posed a serious threat. PLAYFULASITGETS bumped at the start, pressed the pace close up to the turn, then lacked a finish. DEW IT WITH CLASS raced close up to the half, then staged a steady retreat, kept to the inside, raced on the wrong lead through the stretch and did not pose a threat in the late stages. WEEKEND RETREAT lacked any early speed and trailed far back early, and was unable to mount a late bid.
