Chart notes
PEDRO NUNES took command from the inside appraoching the half mile pole, set the pace under steady pressure, responded when challenged in upper stretch, briefly lost the lead nearing the eighth pole, dug-in determinedly to re-claim the lead and prevailed in the drive to the wire. VIRTUOSITY stalked the pace from the inside to the quarter pole, tipped three wide to engage the leader in upper stretch, took a short lead midway down the lane and was denied at the wire. SCHNITTKER tracked the leaders to the quarter pole, circled four wide to loom in mid-stretch and was outkicked nearing the wire in a good effort. WAR OFFICER slow early to be trailer at the quarter pole, cut the corner saving ground and mounted a belated bid up the fence in the lane. RECYCLE unhurried to race near the rear of the field, rallied turning for home with a bid and finished evenly in the final eighth unable to sustain the rally. CITY TRIPPER failed to menace. HOYLAKE took the early from the gate, settled to press the pacesetter and gave way on the turn. I'M NO ANGEL faded from contention never proving a threat.
