Chart notes
INSTIGATION setted in just behind the pace, bided time through the turn, then took advantage of a huge opening to the inside turning for home, finished up well, got the best of the stubborn rival to the outside, and edged clear in the final yards. DIAMONDS N DEW broke sharply and made the lead with the rider taking a strong hold, attempting to temper the pace, was let loose late on the turn, came into the stretch with a clear lead, responded when set down at the head of the stretch, battled gamely with INSTIGATION through the final furlong, but came up short in the end. HELLO SWEETS veered in towards the gap at the break, then moved up under a ride to race inside with the second flight, stayed to the inside through the turn, and kept on while put to steady handling and urging, but was not quite good enough in a decent effort. KAT TRAX was off beat slow then tracked four-wide down the backstretch, advanced on the leaders through the turn to loom a threat approaching the quarter pole, lugged in through upper stretch losing some momentum, then was mildly gaining in the final furlong. LADY FORTUNE hustled from the start to dispute the early pace with DIAMONDS N DEW, backed off to a stalking position early and maintained that position through the turn, did not respond when called up on for more near the quarter pole, and finished evenly. AMY'S STAR stumbled leaving the gate, raced in last position down the backstretch, came under a ride with three furlongs to run but was unable to make up any ground in the late stages. COMMISSIONER D tracked between horse in mid-pack to the turn, then weakened.
