Chart notes
I'LL FIGURE IT OUT was sent hard from the break but unable to contest the early pace, raced mid-pack under mild-coaxing to maintain position, advanced on the frontrunners late on the turn, then took command in upper stretch, went clear, then held off a pair of closing rivals on the outside in the final yards. BLUE MAX outrun early, settled at the back initially, then advanced under a ride through the turn to bid four-wide for the lead at the top of the stretch, finished well under steady handling and intermittent urging, but came up short. FAT DADDY settled four-wide, then made a forward move from the back through the turn, bid five-wide into the stretch, had a little trouble changing leads but still finished up well to gain the third spot. UNPREDICTABLE BAY broke well, pressed the early pace two-deep, took command passing the three-furlong pole, then was confronted by a host of chalengers in upper stretch, tried to battle back but weakened in the final furlong. MAKING ME CRAZY dropped back after a level start, then was outpaced on the turn and fell further behind, tried to come back on in the stretch but was only able to outfinish tired foes. FLORIDA GATOR ducked in and came away from the gate awkwardly, moved up to race close up to the leaders heading into the turn, came under a hard ride near the five-sixteenths marker, and flattened out in the stretch. MONTEREY PENINSULA was sent to the lead after a bit of a slow start, gave way readily when confronted by UNPREDICTABLE BAY at the three-furlong pole, then had nothing left for the stretch run and trailed the field to the wire, was later reported to have bled.
