Chart notes
ACTION MAN settled four-wide, was always close up, then followed THEFRONTIERSMAN through the turn as that rival took over the pacesetting duties, staged a vigorous battle with that rival all the way down the stretch, was fully extended to the wire, and came out on the good end of the photo finish. THEFRONTIERSMAN bumped with CHARLIESLITLDEVIL at the start, tracked the slow pace under a stronghold early, then was let loose to take over the lead into the far turn, dug in under a threat from ACTION MAN near the quarter pole, went head-to-head through the whole of the stretch, and came up on the short end of the photo. BULLRING BULLY settled mid-pack, started a forward move from the half, then went three to four wide into the stretch, finished willingly, but was unable to get to the top pair. CHARLIESLITLDEVIL mutually bumped with THEFRONTIERSMAN, ranged up three wide to press the early pace without really being asked, was content with a stalking position to the far turn, then launched a bid from the three-furlong pole, had every chance turning for home but was outfinished. UNUSUAL ACTIVITY was unhurried from the break and last early on, made a mild bid on the far turn to move up, but was unable to gain ground in the stretch. IMPROBABLE CAUSE was up close to the slow early pace through the first half-mile, then was unable to quicken with the leaders going into the far turn, was under a drive to keep pace, but could not find the needed response in the stretch. TAPINTOYOURBEER hustled from the break to grab the early lead, then was left alone to dictate slow early fractions, was overtaken approaching the half-mile marker, then was unable to keep up the rest of the way. ROYAL DECADENCE was held up near the back through the first half, steadied in traffic near the six-furlong pole, started to lose contact with the field late on the backstretch run, and was uninvolved in the late stages.
