Chart notes
BEAUTIFUL CHARADE broke in at the start and bumped with LINE DANCER, stalked BOX STEP on the lead, then moved up and took command at the quarter pole, then drew off under steady handling. DANZA MAGIC settled off the pace, launched a bid near the three-furlong pole, ran on some late and was just up to claim second at the wire. BOX STEP broke best, made the lead with BEAUTIFUL CHARADE in close pursuit, gave way to that rival at the top of the stretch, lost the crop near the eighth pole, then was kept to task to hold the place but got nailed a the wire. SWEET EMPIRE tracked three-wide near the back of the compact field, dropped to last going into the turn, then only managed to pass a tired rival in the stretch. LINE DANCER took a bump at the start, then rushed up the pace mid-pack to the turn, was under a stiff drive passing the three-furlong pole, did not respond, and had little to offer in the stretch.
