Chart notes
RUNNING ASH hustled up after breaking slowly, hit the front near the five-furlong pole, opened up on the turn, turned back a bid by PIRINOLA near the quarter pole, then widened the lead through the stretch despite racing on the wrong lead. HELLO EVELYN was slow into stride but rushed up inside to settle just behind the pace battle, steadied slightly going into the turn, lacking a clear path, swung out five-wide into the stretch and finished up best of the rest to gain the place. PIRINOLA contested the early pace from between horses to the turn, went after RUNNING ASH on the lead midway through the turn, got to within a couple of lengths at the top of the stretch, failed to change leads, and faltered. DADDYS' SASY GIRLS was the inside horse in the three-way battle for the early lead, dropped back going into the turn, saved ground, and managed to outfinish the rest for fourth place well behind the top three. CHARDU raced two-wide in the second flight behind the leading trio, but did not have much to offer in the stretch. EBONY'S SECRET chased three-wide, failed to change leads in the stretch, and lacked a rally. PLAY BALL SUSIE was outpaced and raced well back early, went into a drive midway on the turn, but was unable to improve. DESTINY'S TOT was devoid of speed and dropped far behind early, made up some ground late, but was never a factor. WILLOWBEE remained in the gate as the field was dispatched and did not participate. THERE WAS A STEWARDS INQUIRY INTO THE START. AFTER A REVIEW IT WAS DETERMINED THAT #8 WILLOWBEE WAS GIVEN A FAIR START AND REFUSED TO BREAK.
