STRADIVARIAN settled in mid-pack along the inside through the early stages, responded when asked to go on midway through the turn, chased a stubborn HOT LEGS ROMOLO through the stretch, and gained the advantage in the final yards. HOT LEGS ROMOLO stalked the early pace two-wide, ceding the lead to SIR LUCAS, confidently took the lead near the quarter pole, was clear in deep stretch, but outkicked in the final yards by the winner. CATALINA COCKTAIL was taken back after the start, went three wide through the first turn, started a run from the three-furlong pole from about mid-pack, bid four-wide into the stretch, and finished up well to gain the third prize. LEVON missed the break, then was slow to begin, was hard held into the first turn, was let loose heading into the far turn, steadied behind tiring foes in upper stretch, tipped out to the three path and finished up well. MISCHIEVOUS PADDY settled near the back but along the rail, launched a bid with three furlongs to run, swung five or six wide into the stretch, and finished well but could not crack the top three. BROTHER TONY was roused from the start to get a forward position, settled up close while keeping to the inside, loomed a big threat approaching the quarter pole, but could not generate the needed late kick in the stretch and was outfinished. VORPAL took up going into the first turn, settled three-wide in the middle of the pack, pulled closer down the backstretch to get within a couple of lengths of the leaders heading into the far turn, bid three-wide into the stretch but went one-paced late and was outkicked in the late stages. MONGOLIAN SPRING pulled five-wide through the clubhouse turn, settled wide down the backstretch in the middle of the pack, did not respond when asked to quicken on the turn, and was only able to pass tired foes in the stretch. SIR LUCAS broke well and was first to turn onto the main course, led the way under some pressure down the backstretch, then was overtaken on the far turn, and tired in the stretch. GOLDEN AFFAIR was a bit rank early and pulled the rider up to the early leaders, was getting out down the backstretch, then continued to lug out on the far turn, was eased before the stretch, galloped out to the finish and walked off.
