BOOTSY'S MERLOT was sent to the lead from the break, made the lead on the first turn, then dueled with DIVINE FASHION down the backstretch through moderate fractions, put that rival away on the far turn, opened up a clear lead in upper stretch, and drew off under steady handling and intermittent urging. DIVINE FASHION went five-wide on the first turn, then dueled with BOOTSY'S MERLOT through moderate fractions, was unable to keep pace with that rival in the stretch, but kept to task to save the place. MALICED was close up along the rail, saved ground and finished evenly, but lost the bob for the minor award. GRACIE DANCE went four-wide into the clubhouse turn, then settled in a tracking position behind the dueling leaders down the backstretch, came under a stiff drive, and went five-wide into the stretch but lacked the needed response. LUBU was last into the clubhouse turn, chased the field down the backstretch, advanced into contention approaching the half-mile pole, went three-wide through the far turn, dropped down the rail for the stretch run, but was not doing enough in the late stages. CHASE BY THE MOON was well placed through the first half-mile, then struggled to keep up through the late stages and was eased up across the finish line, and walked off.
