Chart notes
BRUCKNER broke alertly, showed early speed then dueled for pace duties outside of BARRISTER PROOF along the backstretch run, disputed the solid pace to the quarter pole, shook free to upper stretch then drew off at the furlong pole, kept to task under firm handling late and held sway to the wire. GOLDEN GREEK tracked the dueling early leaders from the inside, chased to the quarter marker then tipped two to three wide to upper stretch, ran in pursuit of BRUCKNER into the final furlong, could not impact the winner late but was a clear second best at the wire. ATMOSPHERIC RIVER settled off of the disputed early pace, advanced into the turn then was asked for run five wide into upper stretch, could not reel in the leading pair in the final sixteenth but was able to close late to earn the show honors. EVANDERKEEN broke a bit slowly then was allowed to settle early on, advanced while widest at the quarter marker, swung six wide to upper stretch, made a mild rally to the final sixteenth and was outkicked late for third. MOONLIGHT ROAD tracked the early pace from between rivals, chased the solid pace into the turn, had his rider lose his crop at the top of the stretch then angled out for the drive, ran in pursuit to the final sixteenth and did not offer the needed late response. RESULTANT allowed to settle in the early running, saved ground into the turn, weaved through rivals to upper stretch, needed more in the late stages but improved position in deep stretch. BARRISTER PROOF sent to vie for the early lead, went up and dueled inside of BRUCKNER along the backstretch, contested the solid pace into the turn, could not keep pace into upper stretch then tired in the drive. BIG JIMMY tracked the early pace from the second flight, was well placed to the turn and ran in pursuit three wide to the quarter marker, lacked the needed response to upper stretch then came up empty in the late stages. This race had a timing discrepancy or malfunction and was re-timed using video technology to arrive at the most accurate time.
