RIDE ELBOW RANCH settled just off of the early pace and was well placed to the first turn, saved ground to the backstretch and advanced along the rail nearing the half-mile marker, took command to the far turn, turned away a bid from SPARTA F. C. into the stretch and drove clear in the final sixteenth. SPARTA F. C. vied for the early lead then ceded the front and stalked WITHOUT A POUT (IRE) into the first turn, was well placed to the backstretch, attended to the pace two to three wide nearing the half-mile marker, chased RIDE ELBOW RANCH into the far turn, bid into upper stretch then was turned away in the final furlong, chased the winner to the final sixteenth and was a clear second best. THEY SEE ME DO IT rated off of the early pace while outside of rivals, got bumped into the first turn then settled to the backstretch, advanced two wide nearing the half-mile pole and chased the leading pair into the far turn, could not make headway in the stretch but was clear in the end for third. THETRIBEHASSPOKEN tracked the early pace from the second flight, was well placed to the backstretch run, ran in pursuit four wide nearing the half-mile pole, angled in approaching the far turn, was caught in tight and took up at the three-eighths marker, stayed on into the stretch but could not find the needed late response. MAY SURPRISE settled while saving ground in the early going, was impeded into the first turn by a hard to place rival, took up and lost position along that bend, unhurried along the backstretch, was coaxed along two wide to the quarter marker, needed more in the stretch drive but ran on late. LIBERTY CAP was unhurried in the early going, saved ground to the backstretch run, trailed to the far turn, maintained an inside path to the stretch then angled out for the final furlong and passed tired rivals late. ONI fought with the rider soon after the start and was hard to handle into the first turn, bothered an inner rival into that bend then was erratic to the backstretch, was coaxed along to the half-mile pole, chased three wide to the far turn, swung four wide for the stretch drive and gave way in the final stages. WITHOUT A POUT (IRE) vied for the early lead leaving the break then was sent to the front, controlled the pace while carving out solid fractions along the backstretch, was overtaken leaving the half-mile point, chased the leaders into the far turn, could not keep pace to upper stretch and tired in the drive. THE STEWARDS CONDUCTED AN INQUIRY IN THIS RACE, SPECIFICALLY LOOKING AT THE RUN INTO THE FIRST TURN. IN ADDITION, THE JOCKEY ON MAY SURPRISE LODGED AN OBJECTION AGAINST THE JOCKEYS ON ONI AND THEY SEE ME DO IT, CLAIMING FOUL INTO THE FIRST TURN RUN. THE STEWARDS ACKNOWLEDGED THAT WHILE ONI IMPEDED MAY SURPRISE INTO THE FIRST TURN, MAY SURPRISE FINISHED AHEAD OF ONI AND NO CHANGE WOULD BE MADE.
