Chart notes
CHIEF RENEGADE broke on top but was quickly joined by a pair of rivals to the outside, vied inside through the turn, put a head in front turning for home and held gamely to the wire just ahead of a host of challengers in a gutsy effort. NO ORDINARY TIGER vied between horses in a three-way battle for the early lead, continued to duel with CHIEF RENEGADE late on the turn when PRINCE OF MEMPHIS dropped out, had every chance to get by the former but was unable to do so. KANGAROO COAST missed the break, spotting the field a head start, was allowed to settle far back early, kept to an inside path through the turn, then rallied in the stretch to gain third. MENDELSSOHNS MUSIC dropped back after a level start, tracked well off the pace to the turn, finished willingly to close the gap on the leaders in deep stretch but came up short. PRINCE OF MEMPHIS broke outward at the start then rushed up to join the leaders three-wide, was the first of the leading trio to crack, dropping off the pace before the quarter pole, angled to the rail but was outfinished in the late stages. HATAGASAL tracked two-wide in the second flight, was in good position approaching the stretch run but failed to change leads and faltered. GALOPING CAT was a bit keen in the early stages while being held up behind the early pace battle, dropped well back on the turn, then bore out to about the five path turning into the stretch and was not a factor in the late stages.
