Chart notes
BLUE FIRE broke alertly for command along the inside, led a pressured pace up the backstretch before meeting a bid from CANAL STREET rounding the far turn, kicked away from that foe and was kept on task to hold off a late drive from MARGIE'S INTENTION to earn the victory. MARGIE'S INTENTION shadowed the pace setter from the inside, looked to make a two wide bid approaching the quarter but the opportunity quickly closed, repositioned to the five path at the top of the stretch, showed a good drive under left handed encouragement that came up just short for a gamely finish. CANAL STREET trailed the pack in the early stages, attempted to split foes just after the half mile marker but took hold soon after, cued four wide through the far turn to pressure the pace entering the stretch, drifted out a few paths in the upper stretch and flattened out. CLEARLY A TEST stalked the pace three wide, began asking at the three eighths, failed to respond to any encouragement and weakened down the stretch.
