Chart notes
FIVEFIVE SIX CHAMP hustled to the front to set the pace with a clear lead before drawing clear on the turn and proved best. SAINT GOAR was slow to stride away from the gate but moved to contention on the inside down the backstretch, tipped out to the two path going into the stretch and matched strides inside of DEFENDING ALBERT to the wire and dug in to hold the place. DEFENDING ALBERT stalked the pace from the three path to the turn then moved up to take aim at the leader but was no match for that one but battled down the stretch outside of SAINT GOAR to the wire and was outnodded for the place. MIGHTY LES raced near the back while saving ground, passed a tired one in early stretch while making a mild bid but veered out between the eighth and sixteenth pole and improved his position. POWERFUL trailed the field to the top of the stretch then passed a tired one but was not a factor. ADMIRAL NELSON pressed the pace from the two path for the first furlong then slowly faded and was not at threat.
