Chart notes
ORDER OF MERIT settled inside just behind the early pace, got stuck behind horses through the turn, then tipped out to the four-path in upper stretch and rallied to be just up in time. SPEIGHT AND MALICE broke well, pressed the pace four-wide, traveling well, bid for the lead at the three-furlong pole, cruised up alongside FAVORITE OUTLAW, took a narrow lead in upper stretch, and held on well until the last jumps. MIGHTY MESSAGE ducked out at the start, moved out to the four-path before the turn, advanced on the leaders, came five-wide into the stretch but was not quite doing enough in the final yards. SMOOTH PEBBLE was sent hard from the start, vied two-deep for th early lead, backed off midway through the turn, rebid up the rail,but was outfinished in the final yards. KNICKS STORY was slow into stride, came six-wide into the stretch, and was closing some ground in the late stages. FAVORITE OUTLAW made the early lead in the initial furlong with two rivals pressing the issue on both sides, held sway through the turn, then weakened in mid-stretch. PEPPERMINT CANDY got roughed up between rivals after the start, spotting the rest a head start, and chased throughout. This race had a timing discrepancy or malfunction and was re-timed using video technology to arrive at the most accurate time.
