Chart notes
MORNING THOUGHTS close up in the early stages, stalked the decent pace to the half, ran in pursuit of WHAT DOES IT TAKE into the far turn, gained ground on that rival into upper stretch, dueled on even terms into the final sixteenth, poked a head in front in deep stretch and determinedly prevailed. WHAT DOES IT TAKE hard sent away from the gate, assumed early command and set a decent pace to the backstretch, dictated terms while setting his own pace to the far turn then was set down into upper stretch, met the bid from MORNING THOUGHTS into the final furlong, was gamely bested in deep stretch and held clearly for second. MARTINI MARTIN settled to the first turn, travelled three wide while in the second flight into the backstretch, chased the leading pair three then two wide into the far turn, was able to close the gap on the top two late and was well clear of the rest for third at the wire. IRA THE ICON settled to the first turn then raced between rivals into the backstretch run, coaxed along while saving ground into the far turn, lacked the needed response to upper stretch and gave way in the drive. HERE'S WALDO prominent in the early running while inside of rivals, got caught in tight and checked into the first turn, settled while saving ground into the backstretch, was outrun approaching the far turn and did not factor in the stretch drive.
