PINEAPPLE WILLY broke well, then raced near the back to the half, circled the field through the turn, bid three-wide for the lead at the top of the stretch, gradually closed the gap on RUNNING BAYOU in the final furlong, and edged ahead in the final yards. RUNNING BAYOU broke well, tracked three-wide behind the early pacesetter, bid for the lead approaching the three-furlong marker, got a head in front past the quarter pole, held on gamely under strong handling and urging, but could not hold off the winner in the last jumps. HE'S EXAGGERATING hustled up after a tardy start, steadied off heels just past the half-mile pole, waited for room through the turn, finally got an opening at the eighth pole but lacked the needed response from that point. BLONDATE dropped to mid-pack after an even start, settled off the pace, steadied just past the seven-sixteenths marker, angled out four-wide late on the turn, then five-wide into the stretch, loomed a threat in upper stretch but was outfinished. SHOT GUN SHACK cleared the field early with several in close pursuit, dug in gamely in the stretch but weakened and gave way in the final furlong. BLACKBERRY CROWN got away well, tracked between rivals behind the pacesetter, dropped out at the three-furlong pole, and had little to offer in the stretch. NO DEAL OR DEAL got off to a poor start, chased the field to the turn, came out four-wide into the stretch and lacked a finish.
