Chart notes
QUARTER RAT tracked the early pace, waited for racing room going by the quarter pole, slipped through along the rail near the eighth pole, engaged FIFTH AVENUE for the late lead, raced heads apart nearing the wire and got up. FIFTH AVENUE set a pressured pace, dug in two wide a furlong left to run, took on the late challenge from rail running QUARTER RAT, fought back and got denied in final stride. MUMAYAZ raced in contention, came under a ride near the quarter pole, ran on four wide in close contention and got a head up late for show. SAMURAI PRINCE pressed the early pace, continued just off the leader around the turn, appeared all out three wide down the lane, continued to put in a game effort but lacked the closing response for serious impact. LIGHTNING STRUCK raced in the back, saved ground, hustled along the rail at the head of the lane and lacked a needed rally. CHOCTAW ZIP failed to gain a threatening position. CLAY'S BLACK OPAL was not too far back outside in the opening quarter then steadily faded.
