Chart notes
MEMPHIS SLIM sped to a clear lead down the backside setting a quick tempo, cut the corner hugging the rail turning for home to kick away from the pursuit and dug-in to hold-on gamely in the final yards. LITIGANT prompted the pace to the turn, narrowed the gap on the bend rallying three wide, drifted out turning for home to the six path and kept coming with a steady bid to just miss. MELODY WIN was well placed tracking the leader to the bend, lost some position on the turn while saving ground and rallied well up the fence down the lane. PENROD bobbled at the start to be the early trailer, raced up to contention leaving the half mile pole to make an early challenge on the turn from four wide, was fanned out to the eight path by the runner-up turning for home and finished well on the outside. AHUMADO went evenly failing to menace. CAPO LUIGI steadied while racing near the rear of the field nearing the half mile pole, dropped to the rear and was never again a factor.
