Chart notes
SHAKIN IT UP LARRY raced up for the lead from the gate, angled in severely in the early going crowding THORN OF HEARTS against the rail coming on to the main track causing that one to take up sharply, went on to take a clear lead to midway down the lane, dug-in when challenged in the final eighth, lost the lead inside the sixteenth pole and came on again to get the bob on the wire. HECTOR crowded early by the winner, settled to stalk the pace, rallied turning for home to engage the winner midway down the lane, took a short lead in deep stretch and lost the bob to the resurgent winner. VALENTINE BUG tracked the leaders through the turn and rallied from five wide in the lane but was unable to gain on the top pair. REELED IN reserved off the pace to be near the back of the pack and lacked a closing kick. THORN OF HEARTS was crowded shortly away from the gate as they raced away from the gap when the winner angled in sharply on the lead causing him to steady at the eleven-sixteenths pole dropping to the rear of the field and was never a factor from there having lost all chance.
