Chart notes
COATTAILS broke sharply, seized the early advantage with one rival pressing the issue to the outside, was well handled, rating nicely while maintaining a narrow lead, quickly opened up when asked at the top of the stretch, and went clear to a facile victory geared down near the finish. MAJESTIC PALACE settled mid-pack in the three-path down the backstretch, was no match for the winner late, dueled with HARD LINE through the stretch for the second placing, and got the better of that rival in the final yards. HARD LINE settled in the middle of the field early, made a forward move towards the leaders leaving the half-mile pole, was under a drive and three-wide on the turn, was never getting to the winner, and was outfinished for the place. METALLIC MISCHIEF broke outward, bothering CONTRABAND EARLY after the start, raced in mid-pack keeping to the inside, lost ground on the turn, and did not have much to offer in the stretch. LOUISIANA JESS slow into stride and last early, came off the rail to the three-path on the turn, but lacked a finish. DEAL ME TRIPS pressed the pace in the two path down the backstretch, started to weaken on the turn, and tired in the stretch. CONTRABAND EARLY got pinched back at the start, was under early urging to regain and keep contact with the field, was already under a ride heading into the turn, came out five-wide into the stretch, and was not persevered with when hopelessly beaten and galloped out to the finish.
