Chart notes
DATS MS. BLAME vied four then three deep early, fought three deep through the turn, put a head in front at the quarter pole, cleared while drifting out in upper stretch, widened in the final furlong and ridden out in deep stretch. MELBA MONTGOMERY vied three deep between rivals then two wide up the backstretch, carried a short lead over rivals on both sides around the bend, relinquished the lead at the top of the lane, watched the winner kick away and held second. SURPRISE D' ORO raced up close from out wide, moved into the three path for the turn, drifted out in upper stretch, weakened in the lane but churned on for third. SPLIT steadied off the heels of DATS MR. BLAME early, angled in trailing the field, moved off the fence in the lane and ran on for third. SONG AND DANCE vied for the lead between rivals then allowed the top trio to go on at the seven-sixteenths pole, stalked on the inside then two wide late on the bend, moved out in upper stretch and weakened. KYATHOS fought inside rivals for command up the backstretch and around the turn, yielded at the top of the lane and retreated.
