Chart notes
FIRST OFFICER chased outside TUG down the backstretch, gained the lead on the far turn, battled with that one and drove clear. TUG , bumped by GRAY BEAST when that one was forced in leaving the starting gate, went to the front, set the pace to the far turn then fought gamely inside the winner through the stretch. TALL COTTON bore in bumping GRAY BEAST at the start, chased the pace from the inside, swung out in upper stretch and weakened. TACTICS drifted out entering the first turn, circled that turn three wide, raced four wide leaving the far turn, drifted in near the eighth pole and weakened. DAYTONA MOONSHINE , rank at the start, was outrun and stayed along the inner rail. CHAPERONE , a forward factor outside horses on the backstretch, dropped back. GRAY BEAST stumbled when bumped and forced into TUG by TALL COTTON leaving the starting gate, failed to be a factor and dropped back.
