Chart notes
ICE AXE rated off of the early pace and tracked the leading pair to the backstretch, was well placed to the far turn then roused three wide at the quarter pole, closed determinedly into the stretch drive, vied for the lead into the final furlong, wore down foes in deep stretch and was up in time to prevail. SARGEANT BARGER forwardly placed to the first turn, engaged with CATALINA CAT and disputed moderate fractions outside of that rival along the backstretch, chased two wide to the quarter marker, re-bid between rivals into the stretch, vied gamely to the final sixteenth, held a narrow lead in deep stretch and was bested for the win in the final strides, while holding safely for the place. THEO'S THUNDER unhurried early on and trailed to the half-mile pole, roused into the far turn then swung widest to upper stretch, closed well to the final sixteenth and rallied in deep stretch, couldn't reel in the top pair at the wire but was up in time for the show honors. COACH CAMPBELL took back in the early stages, chased from the inside heading to the quarter marker, got caught a bit in tight to upper stretch then angled four wide for the stretch drive, closed willingly to the final sixteenth and just missed for the show. CATALINA CAT broke a step slowly, hustled to vie for the early lead, contested the decent pace from the inside heading to the half-mile marker then dictated terms to the far turn, dug in into the lane, grudgingly gave way in the final sixteenth.
