In a pelting rain from a passing through squall, DETERMINISTIC coaxed from the gate, settled tracking the leader in closest aim just off the inside patiently handled until placed to coaxing nearing the quarter pole, spun three wide into upper stretch, rallied to take command a furlong out, edged clear under a drive to score. MI BAGO buckled slightly at the break but broke on top despite it, showed the way settled into a comfortable rhythm under a rating hold along the inside, remained patiently handled through to nearing the quarter pole as rivals got busy in behind, got roused taking the two path into upper stretch, dug in under a drive and got directed slightly outwards to get a look at the top one and was caught a furlong out, then went slightly inwards under a right handed crop inside that station forcing ZULU KINGDOM to pause in behind and tip out near the sixteenth pole, ran on willingly to preserve the place honors on the wire. ZULU KINGDOM (IRE) tracked the pace along the inside behind the cover of the leader in a loose pocket, remained on hold until roused taking the inside route into upper stretch, got paused when MI BAGO came in slightly closing down the rail a furlong out, tipped out nudging LAGYNOS out near the sixteenth marker and kept on to secure the show honors on the line. RHETORICAL grew fractious in the gate and was backed out to be reloaded and grew fractious in behind the gate, reloaded and broke without issue, settled unhurried along the inside of CAPITOL HILL at the tail of the field, came under coaxing near the quarter pole and angled out five wide into upper stretch nudging CAPITOL HILL lightly six wide, offered up a mild bid but was out-finished in the late stages. LAGYNOS settled tracking the front just off the inside from mid pack, remained on hold until let out angled four wide into upper stretch, angled in near the furlong marker and dug in under a drive next to ZULU KINGDOM, got nudged by that rival tipping out near the sixteenth marker, then weakened in the very late stages. CAPITOL HILL was allowed to settle two to three wide near the rear of the field, came under encouragement with five-sixteenths to go and angled out near the quarter pole and was nudged six wide by RHETORICAL swinging five wide just to the inside of him, dug in under a drive and came up empty. There was a Jockey's Objection by the rider of LAGYNOS alleging interference against ZULU KINGDOM in the stretch as well as a Jockey's Objection by the rider of ZULU KINGDOM alleging interference against MI BAGO in the stretch. After review, both objections were dismissed and the result was allowed to stand prior to the race being declared official.
